Comicosity @ NYCC: Day One

NYCC goers, and those who aren’t able to make it…Comicosity has you covered! Jessica, Alison & Karen of The Hangout are on site soaking in all the glory, and they’ve got pics and tales for everyone to enjoy. Without further ado, I hand the mic over, with great thanks, to Jessica…. – E-i-C A.L.

028With the first day of New York Comic Con wrapped-up, the big announcements for many of the large publishers, and small publishers turned large, are still a sleep away.
However, plenty of people packed the halls at the Javits Convention Center to get their hands on con exclusive merchandise and more.

We were able to meet two luck attendees who were not only some of the first waves of people able to get into the convention, but get their hands on the highly sought after Marvel Rocket Raccoon plushy doll. Alex Feygin and Katy Beisheim said that despite their early arrival they still had to wait in a line for two and half hours to get the coveted gun-toting varmint. 040At seven, Thursday evening, the exclusives were still available, and the line was wrapped multiple times around the Marvel booth for those who could not wait.

DC Comics did not have any exclusives to give away this year. Outside the main show floor there is a display of the different Superman costumes through the ages, from the original series, through Christopher Reeve’s movies, Lois & Clark, Smallville, Superman Returns and Man of Steel. Of course, having a little Injustice for people take in wasn’t bad either.

046_bWhile a few of the comic guests are still scheduled to not arrive until tomorrow, plenty have flooded the Artist Alley for sketches, commissions, and original comic pages for sale. Alessandro Vitti was just one of many artists and writers we were able to stop and speak with on the floor. 057Despite all the exclusives and the merchandise it’s the one on one interactions that comic fans truly enjoy. With Rocket Girl coming out just this week, Amy Reeder and Brandon Montclare were on the con floor showing off their latest co-project. Be looking for more pictures from across the convention floor this weekend as well as hearing what creators have to say.

Of course what would a convention be without cosplay! From cartoon favorites, like Evan here dressed as Professor Gadget and Ashley Silva as sailor moon, to this whole family getting in on the fun with the Avengers you better believe the fun is just starting. So, buckle up, because if you can’t come to the con, Comicosity is bringing the con to you!
