HARBINGER WARS 2 #1
Written by Matt Kindt & Eric Heisserer
Art by Tomas Giorello & Diego Rodriguez
Published by Valiant Entertainment- $3.99

THE SEISMIC COMICS EVENT OF 2018 STARTS HERE!

From New York Times best-selling writer Matt Kindt (X-O MANOWAR. DIVINITY, Mind MGMT) and superstar artist Tomas Giorello (X-O MANOWAR), the most powerful Valiant event ever attempted erupts in full force as X-O Manowar, Livewire, the Harbinger Renegades, Bloodshot, the Secret Weapons, Ninjak, and a cast of thousands draw their battle lines in HARBINGER WARS 2!

For the rare and immensely powerful subset of humanity known as psiots, their unique abilities have come with an enormous cost. Once, their existence was known only to a select few. Now, the revelation that thousands of these latent telekinetic “harbingers” secretly live among us…with the potential to become active at any moment…has led the American government to a dramatic tipping point…

Armed with new extra-governmental authority, the deep-black military contractor known as Omen has been authorized to identify, evaluate, and, if need be, eliminate all super-normal threats to the homeland. H.A.R.D. Corps units have been deployed into cities and towns across the United States to enforce their orders.
In the East, one of the most powerful minds on Earth, Peter Stanchek, is leading his band of Renegades across the country, activating any potential psiots willing to join them, and building an insurrection force of ultra-powerful and unwieldy new abilities that will soon bring war to Omen’s doorstep…and the unstoppable force known as X-O Manowar raging back to Earth…

In the West, Livewire – the telekinetic technopath with the ability to bend machines and computers to her will – will be forced to choose between her former allies…or her newfound team of Secret Weapons. As the situation escalates beyond human control, the United States will be plunged into darkness from coast to coast, launching Bloodshot and Ninjak into a dangerous mission to neutralize their one-time teammate – and setting the stage for the most shocking, most violent, and most consequential clash of powers ever witnessed in the history of the Valiant Universe!

Why It’s Hot: The biggest Valiant comic of the year is set to blast off this week. The great Matt Kindt, who has orchestrated some of the company’s biggest stories, is teaming up with Valiant’s secret weapon (pun intended) Tomas Giorello to bring the heroes and villains of the Valiant Universe together once again. If you follow any of these characters this is a must read. If you haven’t jumped on the Valiant train now is a perfect chance to get to know the characters and their place in this universe.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE #4
Written by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV & Joshua Williamson
Art by Francis Manapul
Published by DC Comics – $3.99

The epic finale that everyone will be talking about! After the unimaginable happens, the DCU must band together to defend Earth from annihilation. Before the end, new alliances will be forged…and some heroes will be lost forever. Don’t miss the event that will set the stage for the Justice League in 2018 and beyond!

Why It’s Hot: Will the Justice League make it back Earth? Will the Omega Titans be stopped? Find out here, as the future of the Justice League franchise is revealed! If you’re planning on reading any of the revamped Justice League series this summer you need to read this issue. There’s another comic out this week that may be more important behind the scenes for DC (see a few entries down), but when it comes to what’s on the page this may be the most important issue of the year. This is large scale superhero comics at its best..

THE LAST SIEGE #1
Written by Landry Q. Walker
Art by Justin Greenwood (Pencils) & Eric Jones (Colors)
Published by DC Comics – $3.99

A tale of blood, desperation, and loss. New York Times bestselling author LANDRY Q. WALKER joins artist JUSTIN GREENWOOD for an all-new ONGOING SERIES-THE LAST SIEGE! Spaghetti Western storytelling meets Game of Thrones atmosphere in this gritty medieval war story, as a mysterious stranger arrives at a castle overrun with brutal soldiers bent on usurping the throne of the rightful heir-an 11-year-old girl. An action-packed, genre-twisting epic, THE LAST SIEGE begins!

Why It’s Hot: To be honest I had no clue what this comic was until last week, but I’m glad I figured it out because Image’s latest series has loads of potential. Don’t let my ignorance stop you from getting on board with this series from the get go. You have a comic written by the severely underrated Landry Q. Walker who may be best known for his work on licensed properties like Star Wars. On the art side of things you have Justin Greenwood on pencils and Eric Jones handling coloring duties. Greenwood’s style paired with Jones’ colors is a perfect fit for the world these guys have created. This comic is exactly what the solicitation above says it is, a “gritty medieval war story.” If that interests you in the slightest make sure to add The Last Siege to your pull list!

MAN OF STEEL #1
Written by Brian Michael Bendis
Art by Ivan Reis, Jason Fabok (Pencils) & Joe Prado
Published by DC Comics – $3.99

A new era begins for Superman as a threat from his earliest origins reemerges to destroy the Last Son of Krypton. As Superman struggles to come to grips with what has happened to his wife and son, he must also face a new threat that’s determined to burn down Metropolis!

Why It’s Hot: One of the biggest names in comic book history makes his full fledged DC Comics debut, and the Superman titles will never be the same again! Bendis begins his run with a six issue weekly series that features a murderer’s row of artists, starting with Ivan Reis. It’s quite an experience seeing words written by someone so connected to Marvel over the years drawn by an artist who has worked on some of the biggest DC projects in a Superman comic.
