This is a one-shot that collects three stories originally featured in MySpace Dark Horse Presents. 3 Story is a low-key collection that should appeal to fans of Matt Kindt’s previous work.

All three of these stories are told from the perspective of someone other than the Giant Man. This style works well, because it allows the reader to see the main character from the eyes of those who are experiencing him firsthand. Kindt’s Giant Man is a wonder of the world that evokes different reactions from all whose lives are touched by his being there, and it really brings you closer to the main character because you feel as if you are seeing his life with your eyes, not through his.

The art style feels very European to me, with a lot of muted colors and water-color backgrounds. This is not a bad thing by any stretch, the art style meshes with the writing perfectly, and since the majority of the stories take place in Europe, it all seems very natural. While there is nothing groundbreaking about his panel layout, it’s what is within the panels that really catches your eye. Kindt has a nice visual aesthetic that really helps to draw you into the individual lives of the people in the book.

Overall, this book seems to be a duel between American and European comics. While the art tends toward the European, the script has an American leaning. This isn’t a problem here though, because the characters are just so engaging. This is a very good book, and an interesting read. The only reason I am not going higher on my review, is that I am unsure how much re-read value the book has.

Verdict: 7.0/10
