Oh, Axe Cop….where do I even start to discuss just what you are? Axe Cop: President of the World #1 is a beast unto itself, just like all Axe Cop before it, and really cannot be compared to anything. The sheer random madness and raw entertainment that this comic brings is completely unique in the industry and the unbridled imagination that is found in these pages is amazing. 8 year old Malachai Nicolle brings more ingenuity and passion to this comic than many season vets and while it is unfair to compare the script to that of people three, four, or five times his age, the pure joy found in this comic cannot be beat. This is the mind of a creative eight year old brought to life by his older brother and it is pure insanity. There is no convoluted storylines, no talking heads,  just straight up fun. This comic book is a riot. It is an off-the-hook trip through a riotous and insane world of an axe wielding cop who has become President of the World. I laughed, heartily, at every single page of this book and had to stop several times due to tears of laughter blurring my vision. I can tell you right now no other comic has ever had me laughing this hard for an extended period of time and I applaud Malachai for creating this world of random fun.

And the man who really brings Malachai’s thoughts to life is his older brother Ethan Nicolle. Ethan’s art is perfectly suited for this story and his art contains so much subtle inflection that he manages to bring semblance and a whole secondary level of humour to the chaotic story that is being told. The concepts of any Axe Cop story are out there, but the images Ethan pencils are even more outrageous and larger than life and just when you think you’ve seen it all, he hits you with another hilarious panel. This is some fantastic comedic comic art and a skillful display of what an artist can do with a script, no matter how chaotic.

Axe Cop: President of the World #1 is most likely not for everyone, but I strongly suggest you find this book and give it a shot or at least check out the free Axe Cop strips online. You won’t find anything else like this in any form of entertainment….

Verdict: 8.5/10
