Ten Tweets Thursday kicks off 2013 with Christian Orellana (@borghal), editor of http://www.hijos-del-atomo.com/ and a huge comic book fan. Christian was kind enough to attack the Ten Tweets over the holiday season, see what he had to say below!
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
“Los Pitufos” (that’s how we call “The Smurfs” in Latin America). My Dad bought those for me before I even knew how to read!
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
I always had a soft spot for Colossus of the X-Men. Now I am enjoying reading Miles Morales a lot.
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman”, hands down. It’s the series that made me start collecting comics as a teenager.
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
I buy all my new comics in print. For the old Marvel stuff I use their Digital Comics Unlimited service, which is awesome.
#5 What do you consider to be the most “obscure” title you read?
“El Gran Guaren”, an indie Chilean title published digitally by Accion Comics. If you read Spanish, check them out!
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
Neil Gaiman, definitively. After him, DnA (does that count as one?) and Brian Michael Bendis (there, I said it!)
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
I have too many comic-related t-shirts. Captain America and Green Lantern are high on my rotation, and I even use them to meetings…
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
I mostly stick to Marvel nowadays, but there are characters that I follow wherever they go (such as Elric of Melniboné)
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
P. Craig Russell is a master. I also like Bryan Talbot, and recently I discovered Paco Medina.
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
Amazing Spider-Man #700. I was a bit depressed, but answering these questions cheered me up!
