Welcome to another Ten Tweets Thursday, this week featuring Scarlett (@ScarlettMi), a huge comic fan and contributor to the Comicosity DC Comics New 52 Timeline! Check out what she had to say about the Ten Tweets!
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
Technically, it’d be an Archie I probably bugged my mom for at a grocery store. Watchmen was the 1st one that actually got me into comics.
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
Superman: I’ve never gotten over the childlike awe for someone who can fly & is good & would save us. Catwoman: the perfect antihero.
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
52. It took my new love for comics & exploded it away from only caring about the big names. My pull list permanently expanded after that.
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
All 3! Majority as floppies. Trades for series that rarely interconnect w/ others. With an iPad, my use of digital is growing constantly.
#5 What do you consider to be the most “obscure” title you read?
Probably the seriously charming digital series “Bandette.” With only 2 issues so far, it’s probably the least familiar one. It’s just fun.
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
Scott Snyder: constantly impressed by him. Brian K Vaughan: how does his brain come up with this stuff? Marc Andreyko: Manhunter. Read it.
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
My one major collecting vice is the Cover Girls statues from DC. And of those, my girl Harley Quinn is my giant-mallet wielding favorite.
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
The DCU is my focal point because I started there & love my favs sharing a universe. But I’ll totally try anything w/ good word of mouth.
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
Fiona Staples: draws the beautiful & bizarre. Cliff Chiang: characters have presence & personality. Francesco Francavilla: his colors!!
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
Rachel Rising #12. I started this series based on just seeing the covers & thinking it looked cool. Accurate judging of book by cover!
