Ten Tweets Thursday with @TheIllumiNerdi

The Illumi-Nerdi are coming for you….they are all around us, watching from the shadows….The guys actually aren’t creepy, but they are writing a comic! Shepherd will be their new title and Brian J. Harris & Phillip Butehorn prepared themselves by taking on the Ten Tweets!

#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
PB: Superman #74. My dad came home and handed it to me. I’ve been a nerd ever since.
BH Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, way too adult for the 7 year old I was.

#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
PB: I’ve been humming the Superman theme song since I was 4. My second is between Spidey and Batman. I don’t know how to choose.
BH Agent 355 in Y- Such a tragically beautiful ending to a great character and a great series. Poyo Chew Name a bird more bad ass than him.

#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
PB: Even though I grew up with Kyle as my Green Lantern, Green Lantern Rebirth made me believe in comic books. Brilliant storytelling.
BH Locke & Key Clockworks I loved seeing the history of the keys and their inception.

#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
PB: I only read print because I need that book in my hands. I will always be Team Print.
BH Print, almost exclusively. I guess I’m old school this way but I need the feel of the paper between my fingers.

#5 What do you consider to be the most “obscure” title you read?
PB: I recently started rereading DMZ by Brian Wood. Is it just me or does no one ever talk about that book? So underrated.
BH Green Wake Kurtis Wiebe’s breakout hit that never really was. It was the Arrested Development of comics.

#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
PB: Snyder, Johns and Bendis. Can I give a shout out to Kurtis Wiebe, Jeremy Holt and Ryan K. Lindsay? They are the future.
BH Brian K Vaughan is the best. Frank Miller’s Bats and DD are the definitive versions. Alan Moore is a great writer/possible crazy hobo.

#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
PB: My Superman movie statue. It cost me 40 dollars and it was the first thing I ever bought with my own money. I was about 10 years old.
BH The Superman action figure I got with my grandma at a flea market when I was 5.

#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
PB: It is all about the story. I want to read a comic book with a soul. I was never a fan of books that depended only on action.
BH I’ll read anything Brian K Vaughan comes out with but I have absolutely no loyalty to any company, I go where the good comics are.

#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
PB: Riley Rossmo (His art was incredible in Green Wake), Greg Capullo and Ethan Van Sciver
BH Gabriel Rodriguez. Joe Eisma for MG. Niko Heinrichon for Pride of Baghdad. How he got me to cry over a group of lions I’ll never know.

#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
PB: Avengers vs X-Men #8. It was a big fat disappointment because Namor should have died. Marvel blew a huge opporunity!
BH Sweet Tooth #14. Brilliant comic that I randomly picked up. Don’t want it to ever end.
