Happy Thursday, comics fans! SDCC is full swing, but Ten Tweets soldiers on! This week we welcome Sam LeBas (@comicsonice) to the high octane experience that is Ten Tweets! Check out what she had to say when faced with the mighty Ten!
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
My 1st memory ever is reading the funny pages w/ my grandmother, the EIC of my hometown newspaper-maybe why I edit comics? 1st book? X-men
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
Despite the fact that my son is named after Gambit, I have to go with Jim Gordon & Magneto. I am a big fan of moral ambiguity, obviously.
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
“Unmanned” arc of Y: The Last Man-Still the best example of world building, pacing & character development that I’ve ever come across.
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
Single issues! Don’t be ridiculous. I do read digitally for reviewing purposes, but I usually pick up the issue, too.
#5 What is your favourite independent comic you feel everyone should be picking up?
I’m really excited about “And Then Emily Was Gone,” by John Lees & Iain Laurie, out July 30. I got ahold of it at NYCC & it’s fabulous.
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
BKV & Snyder set the standards for writing in my mind. I think Frank Barbiere is insanely talented. People should be reading his work.
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
My chog from CHEW, it makes me smile every time I see it.
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
I follow creative teams, but I’ll try any creator-owned book that has an intriguing premise, I am always looking for the next great story.
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
I’ve got a new art-crush on Tula Lotay. This is impossible! I have to separate the art from storytelling-David Mack & Rafael Albuquerque?
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
Supreme Blue Rose #1 by Warren Ellis and Tula Lotay, I’m reviewing it this week for Multiversity.
