Happy Thursday, comic book fans! Today, we celebrate Thor’s Day by asking a comic fan, Anj (@dranj70) ten questions about his reading habits. Check out what he had to say below!
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
Superboy and the Legion #211. I still own it. Started a lifelong love of the Legion.
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
Supergirl, absolutely my fave. Wildfire of the Legion #2. Superman a close 3rd.
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
This is a tough one. I reread Morrison’s Animal Man run frequently. I love the Levitz/Giffen Legion run. But I guess if I had to pick one, I’d say V For Vendetta. Crucial reading for me.
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
Definitely print. Runs I know I will reread a ton I do but in trade.
#5 What is your favourite independent comic you feel everyone should be picking up?
Invisible Republic by Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman is a great read. Sci-fi, political, intelligent, gorgeous. Everyone should be reading.
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
Alan Moore, Howard Chaykin, Grant Morrison. All three are guaranteed buys by me. I’d put Sterling Gates, a more current writer, at four.
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
Another hard one. My Superman #233 signed by ONeil, Anderson, and Adams is priceless to me.
My Crisis on Infinite Earths 7 signed by Wolfman, Perez, and Ordway is a very close second.
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
I am predominantly a DC guy and always seem to read the Super books and Legion. But I’ll follow creators I love (Brubaker and Waid for example)
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
Brian Bolland, John Totleben, and George Perez are the first three that popped into my head. I could probably rattle off 20 more.
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
Paper Girls 12. I love that series too. Nice mix of time travel and 80s nostalgia!
