Happy Thursday comic fans! This week we welcome Ed Torres (@ed_pool) to the hot seat to talk about what he reads! Check it out!
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
The first superhero comic I remember reading was Amazing Spider-Man #300. It had Todd McFarlane art & Spider-Man vs Venom. I was hooked!
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
Without a doubt Spider-Man! The nerd who learns with great power comes great responsibility. 2nd is Deadpool Cap & Logan are up there too
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
I catch flack for it, but I still love The Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos is my fave big bad. Old Man Logan would probably come in 2nd.
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
I mainly get comics in print, but have been slowly getting into digital to save space. I do love trades for classic stories.
#5 What is your favourite independent comic you feel everyone should be picking up?
I don’t get into a lot of indies, purely because of financial reasons. Morning Glories is about as indie as I get.
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
Only 3? Hickman has been killing it for a while. Claremont for his Uncanny X-Men awesomeness. Probably Bendis for all he’s done at Marvel
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
The gems in my collection are New Mutants #87 & #98, the first appearances of Cable and Deadpool. Both are 9.8 CGC graded and slabbed.
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
Make Mine Marvel! I do a combination. I like to follow characters, but will follow a creative team to another book or even publisher.
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
Only 3 again?! Kirby is a legend, Alex Ross a master, Jim Lee my fave as a teen. I’ve loved every piece of art I’ve ever seen from them.
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
I just read Amazing Spider-Man #9. I’m really digging Spider-Verse, but I’m biased!
