Happy Thorsday, it doth be time for the Ten Tweets! Every Thursday we pose ten questions to a comics fan to see what makes them tick. This week our guest is Brandi Southerland (@RedBirdBrandi), check out what she had to say!
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
DC vs Marvel Comics. It was my brother’s and I remember getting jealous of Jubilee because I was in love with Robin!
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
Dick Grayson and Stephanie Brown. Seeing Dick grow up was such a wonderful journey! And Stephanie Brown punched Batman. Need I say more?
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
1 of the first stories I read: Identity Crisis. I had no idea who Ralph or Sue was, but by the end, I felt like they were family!
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
All of them. I’m reading Fables and Y: The Last Man in trade, most everything in print, but Saga and a few others digitally.
#5 What do you consider to be the most “obscure” title you read?
I really don’t read much outside of DC. I guess I’d have to say Saga, though it’s garnering a lot attention lately. Which is deserved!
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
Scott Snyder, Gail Simone, and Brian K. Vaughan. I can pick up anything by these 3 with no prior knowledge and I know I’ll fall in love!
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
SDCC 1 year, a friend ran into Gail Simone and told her I was her biggest fan. She pulled out a backer board and signed it for me! THAT!
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
Again, all of the above. I mainly stick with DC, but there’s a few I’d follow to Marvel. I’ll read anything Steph Brown. But DC, ftw.
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
Fiona Staples, Tony Daniel and Dustin Nguyen. This was an instant response, I will read anything that has their names attached.
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
Last night I actually re-read Identity Crisis for the 700th time and right after I re-read Saga #9. It’s insane how much I love Saga!
