Happy Thursday, comic readers, and welcome to another edition of Ten Tweets! This week we’ve got Virgil and Midnighter writer Steve Orlando (@thesteveorlando) in the hot seat! Virgil hit stores yesterday (check out an interview about the book here and Steve’s appearance on THE HANGOUT here) and Midnighter has been tearing it up since it was launched just a few months ago (find reviews and more here). Check out what Steve had to say when staring down the infamous ten questions below:
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
West Coast Avengers 16
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
Martian Manhunter and Jenny Sparks
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
Flex Mentallo, hands down.
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
All of the above! I try for floppies to help the creators, but digital PDFs and trades sneak in from time to time
#5 What is your favourite independent comic you feel everyone should be picking up?
I really liked THE HOMELESS CHANNEL by Matt Silady, and currently WE CAN NEVER GO HOME from Black Mask
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
Mikhail Bulgakov, Warren Ellis, Sappho
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
I DID collect Pez Dispenser as a kid, but won’t let myself go down the collectible rabbit hole now. It would have to be original art, I think
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
I tend to follow creators, but will also follow lesser tier characters to show support regardless of who is working on them
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
Aaron Weisenfeld/Joe Bennett as a team, Stuart Immonen, Gene Colan
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
It was actually the upcoming Vertigo launch UNFOLLOW, and I really enjoyed it!
