THE HONOR ROLL: December 20, 2017 Releases

We are getting to the end. Its almost over. Then it starts all over again! This week was filled with amazing comics and we have great spoiler-filled picks for you check out, so let’s get to it!

BATMAN #37 – Doug Zawisza

Batman #37 features a double date to the Gotham County Fair. Except it’s “Super Hero Night”, so Batman, Catwoman,  Superman, and Lois Lane have to do some quick thinking in a surprisingly fun tale written by Tom King, drawn by Clay Mann, colored by Jordie Bellaire, and lettered by Clayton Cowles. This second chapter of the “Super Friends” tale answers some fun fanboy questions, raises a few more, and gives readers a lighthearted tale that ought to be the first in an annual (or at least semi-regular) event.

About Me: I’m Doug. Father of three, husband of one, fan of all things good. I’m a regular contributor here on Comicosity and I dig a good roll call. Twitter: @DZawisza

HELLBOY: KRAMPUSNACHT – Tom Barnett

Adam Hughes scared the shit out of me with this panel from Hellboy: Krampusnacht. I don’t find comics scary. Cullen Bunn has creeped me out with some of his stories before, but not scared me. This image is nightmare fluid!

About Me: I’m Tom. Slightly addicted to comics, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek. I also try to spend some time behind the lens of my camera. Love Bronze Age comics and the Black Hole movie from Disney. Follow me @tphoto10

X-MEN: GRAND DESIGN #1– James Kaplan

This was a great, super-ambitious read. Ed Piskor is a fantastic artist and storyteller, and in the space of 6 issues, his plan is to summarize years of X-Men storytelling. I really enjoyed this first issue. A ton of ground is covered but it didn’t feel overly dense. Piskor is a great storyteller here, with fun, appealing art. The book is printed on thicker paper which gives it a terrific old-school feel. This is definitely worth a read.

About Me: James is a lawyer by day, and an avid reader of comics whenever he can.  He loves his family, friends, and getting all of them into comics. He writes longer comics reviews at panelpatter.com and is on Twitter @sinisterjhk.

COPPERHEAD #17Kat!

This issue had so many great jaw dropping moments that redefined Clara’s character, sad to see this series ending.

About Me: I’m Kat! A YouTuber on Comic Uno and Comic Frontline, a podcaster on the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast and upcoming Titans Podcast, comic book editor on The Marvel Report, comic book critic on Newsarama, and writer/creator for comic book series Like Father, Like Daughter and They Call Her…The Dancer. DARK NIGHTS: METAL #4 – Scott Keys

Dark Knights: Metal #4 is my pick this week. The story thus far has been amazing, and this panel with Clark & Bruce is heartfelt and exemplifies Superman! SO digging this series

About Me: Scott Keys is a father, Butler University grad, pharmacist, and full-time comic nerd. You can follow his adventures around the spinner-rack and his Incoherent Comic Book Ramblings on Twitter

X-MEN: GRAND DESIGN #1 Aaron Meyers

What a wonderful love letter to the X-Men. Perfection.

About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics

Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week!
