THE HONOR ROLL: February 18, 2015 Releases

Half of the US is covered is snow, the other half is living in a spring time wonder land. In these times of uncertainty we have comics at least. We have great spoiler filled picks for you. Let’s get to it!

BITCH PLANET #3 – Jessica Boyd

Kelly Sue is going to have a reckoning coming at the “She-Woman Man-Haters Club.” That’s because she dared to tell the secret desires of ever woman’s heart in Bitch Planet #3.

If you ever wonder why your wife, sister, mother, daughter, aunt, grandmother and the like seem to fuss too long in the bathroom, change clothes too many times, or stare too long in the mirror; it’s this. Everyone one of us wants to look in the mirror every day and have the same reaction as Penny. Also, you want to know a secret? It’s not just women. Plenty of men want the same self-love that Penny has achieved.

It would be a whole lot easier if the “Fathers” of society stopped knocking our collective self worth down with constant talk of physical improvement and beauty. Imagine how much less hatred we could be as a society if we were not insistently dragging each other and ourselves down? All we really need is (self) love.

01

About Me: Mother. Comic reader. Jessica is a journalist turned teacher who spends her free time catching running noses and cleaning up messes. Main message: yes, even mothers read comics. @Charmingred on twitter.

BITCH PLANET #3 – Tommy Zimmer

I’m not a “cause” guy.  I avoid rallies and socio-political debates. But Kelly Sue DeConnick is creating a series that demands attention. Bitch Planet is now three issues in and it’s a goddamn blast. Issue three has guest artist Robert Wilson IV filling in on a “origin” issue. It is raw and honest and unflinching. This is a major piece of work.  It’s also the only comic that I actually read the essays in the back.

About Me: I’m Tommy. I love comics. Enjoy every sandwich. Follow me @VictorVonZoom

THE VALIANT #3 – Ken Godberson III

If you can’t find one character on here that you want to learn more about, I can’t help you.

P.S. Yes, that Goat has laser eyes.

03

About Me: When he is not working at a library or on his Master’s Degree, Ken Godberson III is usually writing comics, prose and screenplays. He tends to be an expert on absolutely nothing except on why Impulse is the greatest superhero ever. He can be found on Twitter @kengodbersoniii or on Tumblr at http://kengodbersoniii.tumblr.com/.

SILVER SURFER#9 – Tom Barnett

Are you kidding me?! The Silver Surfer surfs a moon? What’s not to love about that. This is one of those moments where you think, why has no one done this before. Dan Slott and the Allreds are killing it on this book.

04

About Me: I’m Tom. Slightly addicted to comics, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek. I also try to spend some time behind the lens of my camera. Love Bronze Age comics and the Black Hole movie from Disney. Follow me @tphoto10

BATGIRL #39 – Miles Espinoza

If you did not like the new direction for Batgirl then you totally need to read this issue. The cliffhanger will definitely make your jaw drop and might also break the internet!

05

About Me: Miles Espinoza is a normal civilian by day, Vigilante by night. He can be found on twitter @XxKnightFlamexX

THE MULTIVERSITY: MASTERMEN #1 – Pete Buser

X-Men.  Batman.  Superman.  Alpha Flight.  Jim Lee is considered an all-time legend thanks to these comics.  But it wasn’t until he teamed up with Grant Morrison that he drew Adolf Hitler grunting out a deuce.

06

About Me: Pete Buser is an enigma wrapped in a variant cover. Follow his mystery @petebuser

THE OCTOBER GIRL #3 – Aaron Meyers

It’s been a while since the last issue but it’s great to have a new issue of October Girl. The contract of shadow and light are stunning.

07

About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics

Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week, stay tuned!
