THE HONOR ROLL: March 15, 2017 Releases

Movies, TV and of course, especially Comics. We have great choices now all the time and of the comics, we have great spoiler filled picks for you to check out from the best books this week. So, let’s get to it!

NIGHTWING #17 – Doug Zawisza

Tim Seeley and Javier Fernandez have made Nightwing a must-read for me. One of the most consistently entertaining Rebirth titles, Nightwing sneaks in a huge surprise as Deathwing attacks Nightwing under a multiversal sky. And, yes, you should very much be reading it.

About Me: I’m Doug. Father of three, husband of one, fan of all things good. I’m a regular contributor here on Comicosity, an adjunct staff member of the Waiting for Doom podcast, and author of the Hawkman Companion from TwoMorrows. Twitter: @DZawisza

HEAD LOPPER #5 – James Kaplan

Head Lopper is back, which is great news for anyone seeking a fun, fantasy-adventure comic with action and tons of humor and lopping of heads. Andrew MacLean’s terrifically fun comic is back, and Norgal the Head Lopper is on a new adventure with his absurd sidekick, Agatha the witch’s head that Norgal carries around. We meet some new folks and they do not all survive. MacLean is a really talented visual storyteller and has a great, appealing style here that’s fun and engaging. He’s helped on colors by Jordie Bellaire who does great work. This is a fun read.

About Me: James is a lawyer by day, and an avid reader of comics whenever he can.  He loves his family, friends, and getting all of them into comics. He writes longer comics reviews at panelpatter.com and is on Twitter @sinisterjhk.

SUPERMAN #19 – Scott Keys

The plot thickens in Superman #19! Finding out that Mr. Mxyzptlk was the OTHER Clark was only the beginning! Deja-New-52 indeed, Mxy!

Scott Keys is a father, Butler University grad, pharmacist, and full-time comic nerd. You can follow his adventures around the spinner-rack and his Incoherent Comic Book Ramblings on: Twitter: @Like_car_Keys Tumblr:likecarkeys.tumblr.comInstagram: Like_car_Keys Facebook: Scott Keys (Likecarkeys) Google+: Scott Keys Pinterest: LikecarKeys

SUPER SONS #2 – Kara Leavitt

Super Sons is incredibly fun, mostly because Jon and Damian don’t get along but have to work together anyway. I love seeing young people have to solve problems for themselves and learn to be independent from their parents. I really enjoy the dialogue between Damian and Jon, and while they’re definitely young, they’re still written as intelligent and capable. I can’t wait to read more, and I’m excited to see their relationship evolve over the course of this series.

About Me: Kara is a pre-vet sophomore at Tufts University. She loves reading comics in her spare time and frequenting her local movie theater. Follow her @karalea16

I HATE FAIRYLAND #11 – Jill Pennington

Finally! Gert’s back wreaking havoc. She’s a BAD SASS MUFFIN FLUFFER! Skottie Young has mixed just the perfect amount of wit and humor with fairyland violence while Jean-Francois Beaulieu gives us colors we want to visually devour. This series is almost too much fun to read!

About Me: I’m Jill; A first time contributor. I sell comics and books by day at Pieces & Pages and fill the rest of my time making my fiancé play boards games with me, reading and hugging my cats. If you’re nearby Livonia, MI stop into the store for a high-five or reach out online @PiecesAndPages.

VAMPIRELLA #1 – Aaron Meyers

Good enough art and story that it makes me want to read #2. That’s a tall order for most Vampi books these days.

About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics

Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week!
