The cycle of comics is a wild one. So many books out this week. Great picks from our contributors. Let’s get to these spoiler filled choices!
ALEX & ADA #10 – Roderick Ruth
Honestly, I love robot sex. That’s been my biggest fetish since I could say “replicants.” I love electric Barbarellas. The dudes in “Weird Science” had it right.
With that said, it has been a genuine and heartwarming experience reading Alex + Ada, and the fact that they were finally able to consummate it was beautiful. The fact that they could throw some human humor into it was fantastic as well.
About Me: Roderick is an avid comic reader and collector, with a particular fondness for funny books and nerd nostalgia from the “Dark Ages of Comics” (also known as the late 80′s and 90′s). When he’s not diving in $1 long boxes trying to recapture his youth or working out his biceps from lifting his massive pull list everyWednesday at his comic shop, he can be found on Twitter @roderickruth.
THE FADE OUT #3 – Ken Goodberson III
This book is so beautifully tragic and tragically beautiful.
About Me: When he is not working at a library or on his Master’s Degree, Ken Godberson III is usually writing comics, prose and screenplays. He tends to be an expert on absolutely nothing except on why Impulse is the greatest superhero ever. He can be found on Twitter @kengodbersoniii or on Tumblr at http://kengodbersoniii.tumblr.com/
THE FADE OUT #3 – Tom Barnett
Sean Phillips really sucks the reader into Maya’s story with this panel in Fade Out #3. The eyes and the slight sad smile deliver a thousand words of pathos.
About Me: I’m Tom. Slightly addicted to comics, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek. I also try to spend some time behind the lens of my camera. Love Bronze Age comics and the Black Hole movie from Disney. Follow me @tphoto10
BATMAN #36 – Scott Keys
Snyder & Capullo have been on one of the most epic Batman runs, and Batman #36 just took that run up another level! We knew the Joker was behind things last issue, but the reveal this issue was amazing!
About Me: Scott Keys is a father, Butler University grad, pharmacist, and full-time comic nerd. You can follow his adventures around the spinner-rack and his Incoherent Comic Book Ramblings on: Twitter: @Like_car_Keys / Tumblr: likecarkeys.tumblr.com / Facebook: Scott Keys (Likecarkeys) / Google+: Scott Keys
BATMAN #36 – Miles Espinoza
I don’t think I ever seen Alfred hate someone so much. He expressed himself so well and the vocabulary he used surprised me very much. Alfred was the MVP in this issue, well at least for me.
About Me: Miles Espinoza: Miles Espinoza is a normal civilian by day, Vigilante by night. He can be found on twitter @xXxKnightFlamexXx
GRENDEL VS. THE SHADOW #3 – Mike Morgado
This comic has been an excellent read from beginning to end. The fact that the Shadow inspired the creation of Batman must have crossed the creative team’s mind with this panel. The Shadow totally steals a Batman move and it looks fantastic!
About Mike: Mike Morgado has been a comic nerd going on over 30 years. When he’s not at work or with his family, his favourite place to be is at the local comic shop on Wednesday’s with his ‘Comic Club’ pals. He can be found online @WTFisHalonCon or his incredibly ignored blog (soon to make a return)http://www.fourcolourwesterns.blogspot.com
COPPERHEAD #3 – Pete Buser
I’ve been hooked on Copperhead since the first issue. Jay Faerber’s murder mystery set in a western world on a frontier planet in a galaxy far away hits my sweet spot. We’re still learning about the characters and the world they inhabit, but everything is becoming fully realized in just a few issues. Boo is quickly becoming a favorite alien deputy of mine.
Scott Godlewski’s art has grown by leaps and bounds with respect to both his character designs and setting in these few short months. I can’t stay away when all of these are added together and you won’t be able to either.
About Me: Pete Buser is an enigma wrapped in a variant cover. Follow his mystery @petebuser
WYTCHES #2 – Aaron Meyers
Snyder knows horror and Jock couldn’t be a better pick for the art. Great start so far
About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics
Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week, stay tuned!
