THE HONOR ROLL: October 12, 2016 Releases

What an amazing week of comics! We have amazing picks for you to check out! Amazing spoilers abound! Let’s get to it!

BLACK MONDAY MURDERS #3 – James Kaplan

I read some good comics this week only one that made me say “holy $&;t” when I finished, and that was the latest issue of The Black Monday Murders. This comic is ambitious in a way that makes most other comics seem small (not surprising from writer Jonathan Hickman). It’s about finance and dark magic and class and politics and the human condition. It’s presented with text materials as an integral part of the story, and artist Tomm Coker, colorist Michael Garland and letterer Rus Wooton combine to make a fantastic-looking book. You need to be reading this.

About Me: James is a lawyer by day, and an avid reader of comics whenever he can.  He loves his family, friends, and getting all of them into comics. He writes longer comics reviews at panelpatter.com and is on Twitter @sinisterjhk.

KILL OR BE KILLED #3 – Tom Barnett

Brubaker, Phillips, and Breitweiser always put out high quality comics and this new book is no exception. I love that they’re creatively playing with the arrangement of image and text.

About Me: I’m Tom. Slightly addicted to comics, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek. I also try to spend some time behind the lens of my camera. Love Bronze Age comics and the Black Hole movie from Disney. Follow me @tphoto10

DOOM PATROL #2 – Pete Buser

Gerard Way sure has the beginnings of a great story going on here.  That classic Doom Patrol weirdness and an ever deepening mystery are brought to the forefront by Nick Derington and Tamra Bonvillain’s artwork.  Every panel has so much happening in it, but this is my favorite because it’s a question we all ask.

About Me: Pete Buser is an enigma wrapped in a variant cover. Follow his mystery @petebuser

REBORN #1 – Aaron Meyers

Amazing art. A great start!

About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics

Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week!
