Published by Marvel Comics – $4.99

ACT III: NEW WORLD DISORDER

•  Who will live? Who will die? Who will remain inverted? A shocking climax that promises to crack the Marvel Universe to its very core!

•  An old foe must claim the mantle of his greatest enemy to save the lives of all he cares for!

•  An X-Man’s horrifying fate! An Avenger’s appalling choice! If you read only one comic this century – This is it!

Why It’s Hot: Marvel’s current crossover event may have gotten off to a shaky start, but the combination of extremely strong tie-ins, and the past few issues showing a vast improvement have brought interest back to the title. Now it’s time for the main event! We know at the end of the day that most of the characters will be reverted back to their normal selves, but this is a Rick Remender book, we can expect a number of surprises. What will the Marvel Universe look like in the wake of Axis? What will happen to the Red Skull? Charles Xavier? How will all of this lead to the relaunch of Uncanny Avengers? Only one way to really find out!

Written by Robert Venditti
Art by Billy Tan & Rob Hunter
Published by DC Comics – $4.99

“Godhead,” act 3, part 6: The massive finale is here! On one side stand the New Gods, on the verge of conquering our universe in order to save it! On the other stand the combined might of the various Lantern Corps – or what’s left of them. And in the wings wait the unlikeliest of allies: Hal Jordan and Black Hand. Changes are coming to the heroes of interstellar space, and it all starts here, in the climactic final battle of mortals vs. gods!

Why It’s Hot: The Green Lantern titles have been known for years for their inter-title crossovers. Whether it’s The Sinestro Corps Wars, War of the Green Lanterns, Wrath of The First Lantern, or Lights Out, these crossovers have produced some of the most exciting superhero stories of the past several years. Now you can add Godhead to that list, as the Lantern/New God extravaganza has been a wild ride. It seems to be tradition that these crossovers save their best for last, and that they change how what we know about these characters. This means that Green Lantern Annual #3 is going to be a game changer, and fans of the Corps will not want to miss it!

Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Art by Andy Kubert & Jonathan Glapion
Published by DC Comics – $4.99

It all ends here! Batman’s been to the hells of Apokalips and back just to retrieve his son’s body.  But what has he brought back with him? And who is the new Robin?

Why It’s Hot: He’s back! Writer Peter Tomasi has spent the last two years with some of the best artists in the industry exploring what the loss of his son Damian meant to Bruce Wayne, and the journey to get him back. Well the long wait is over, as Robin made his triumphant, emotional, and maybe a little too well publicized return in last week’s issue of Batman and Robin. Now writer Peter Tomasi is joined once again by Damian Wayne’s superstar co-creator Andy Kubert to fit the final piece into the puzzle. As the title of the book alludes to, this isn’t the end, but rather just the beginning of Robin’s story. It’s a brand new dawn for “The Boy Wonder” and you don’t want to miss it!

STK658627THEY’RE NOT LIKE US #1
Written by Eric Stephenson
Art by Simon Gane, Jordie Bellaire, Fonografiks
Published by Image Comics – $2.99

Generation after generation, it’s the same old S.O.S.:
There’s no hope for the future, because young people think only of themselves.
They have no respect for authority. They think they know everything. They are arrogant. They are reckless. They want to tear the world apart.
In a time full of possibilities, yet rife with disappointment, the youth are changing.
They look the same, but they act different, think different, and have abilities we can only dream of.
They’re not like us.

Why It’s Hot: Image Comics Publisher and writer of the critically acclaimed Nowhere Men, Eric Stephenson is back with a brand new series that has been getting rave reviews. A story of young people getting powers may sound eXtremely familiar, but there hasn’t been one quite like this. On the art side of the equation Simon Gane’s pencils and the design work that’s a staple of Stephenson’s books help make this one awesome looking comic. Another week, another must read launch from Image Comics.

UNCX2013029_DC11UNCANNY X-MEN #29
Written by Brian Michael Bendis
Art by Chris Bachalo & Tim Townsend
Published by Marvel Comics – $3.99

• Everything over the last several months has been leading to this-a turning point for the X-Men. And it all revolves around their deceased former mentor and leader, Professor Charles Xavier!

Why It’s Hot: When this story was first announced months ago, Bendis mentioned that its fallout would change the landscape of the X-Men. We found out that Xavier was married at the time of his death, and we have seen the destruction caused by the powerful, and uncontrollable Matthew Malloy. With that said, none of it has felt particularly landscape altering. Reading between the lines would indicate that this issue should be a doozy. None of this has taken into account that Chris Bachalo has been turning out the work of his career on this title (just look at that cover!) It all adds up to an issue to get excited for!
