Written by Robert Kirkman
Art by Ryan Ottley and John Rauch

Published by Image Comics — $3.99

10th ANNIVERSARY LANDMARK 100th ISSUE SPECTACULAR! THE DEATH OF EVERYONE: CONCLUSION! It’s all been building to this. Mark Grayson’s entire life as a superhero, all he’s learned, all he’s endured, it’s all been leading to this one moment.  Will he become the hero he was meant to or will he choose… a DIFFERENT path?  The aftermath of this EXTRA-SIZED issue will shock you.

Why It’s Hot: This is most certainly the biggie this week, as yet another Robert Kirkman-owned property reaches it’s centennial issue. After the surprise that came with Walking Dead’s 100th issue, can you really afford not to check this one out? Besides which, rumor has it this issue picks up mid-movement from its predecessor, and that cliffhanger was a doozy!

STK521326INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US #1
Written by Tom Taylor
Art by Jheremy Raapack
Published by DC Comics — $3.99

Based on DC’s latest highly anticipated video game from the makers of Mortal Kombat! The first time in print for these digital-first stories. This prequel explains the events leading up to the start of this epic game!

Why It’s Hot: One of the latest critically acclaimed digital-first offerings from DC Comics, and certainly the one most surprisingly so, Injustice features a world we all have fantasized about: one where Superman rules with an iron fist. Batman is ready to stand against him, but who else will rise in this dystopian future world to fight for freedom? Would I have ever guessed a comic based on a video game was worth reading? Not a chance. Has it completely piqued my interest anyway? Hell yeah.

STK521059HAWKEYE #7
Written by Matt Fraction
Art by Steve Lieber
Published by Marvel Comics — $2.99

“We’re pushing the next story back by a month to make room for a two timely stories about Hawkeye and Kate Bishop dealing with the ramifications of a hurricane that hammers the east coast. With lovely art by the Eisner Award Winning artist Steve Leiber and newcomer Jesse Hamm, it’s a perfect pause before the next Fraction/Aja mini-opus begins….featuring the reveal of a villain that I can promise you no one sees coming.”

Why It’s Hot: Hawkeye has been an unabashed hit these last six months, and now, not only can you get a great story, but you can feel good about it too. Matt Fraction is donating his salary and royalties for this issue to the Red Cross to support continued relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. And if you haven’t checked out what is undoubtedly Marvel’s premier book right now, you couldn’t ask for a better reason to start here.

This is the issue Dan Slott and Steve Wacker have been telling us all to wait for. doctorwhoDOCTOR WHO: PRISONERS OF TIME #1 (OF 12)
Written by David Tipton and Scott Tipton
Art by Simon Fraser

Published by IDW Publishing — $3.99

November 23, 1963: A day that changed the world forever. That day saw the broadcast debut of Doctor Who, which was to become the longest-running science-fiction series on television. And now 50 years later, we pay tribute to one of the greatest pop-culture heroes of all time with this special series, which tells an epic adventure featuring all 11 incarnations of the intrepid traveler through time and space known simply as… the Doctor.

Why It’s Hot: Fifty years of history? All eleven Doctors? A new artist for each of the issues featuring a single incarnation of the Time Lord? What else is there to say? Every Who fan has a favorite, but I’m guessing they’ll all be up for grabs soon enough.
