Welcome to Comicosity’s Hot Five. Hot Five is a short list of the top books we think you’ll want to be checking out. Be they new title launches, key issues or just continuing stories from some of the industry’s most acclaimed books, this list is your guaranteed gold for the week in the comic market!

I hope you enjoyed last week’s “Extended Edition” of the Hot Five. Before we dive into this week’s top titles I wanted to make a small note for future reference. In order to put the spotlight on as many books as possible, the entries for the issues listed in the extended section of the column won’t be recycled. Instead, I will provide a friendly reminder at the end of every Hot Five the week that the issue(s) discussed at the beginning of the month are being released.

The X-Men are shaken to the core by the Battle of the Atom. Kitty Pryde is particularly shaken by the events of the X-Men crossover. With her students gone, what is Kitty to do?

Why It’s Hot:  Brian Michael Bendis continues the run of his acclaimed X-book, as a new era dawns from the ashes of the Battle of the Atom crossover. With the direction of the book altered by the aforementioned event, this issue looks to be a perfect jumping on point for readers both looking for an in to the X-books and wanting to get up to speed before the impending crossover with Guardians of the Galaxy.
