Matt Hawkins to team with Rahsan Ekedal for THE TITHE

In an interview for We Talk Comics, Matt Hawkins gave details on the next book he’s doing with Rahsan Ekedal while Think Tank is on hiatus.

“I always wanted to do a robbery story so he and I cooked one up” Matt says “Let’s do a heist thing, just a quick miniseries. Something original, something different, what can we do, what can we hit?”

Matt further explains “I thought I bet those mega churches have a lot of money, how come nobody ever robs them? So I put together a story, started researching it and found some of these churches are raising upwards of $50 Million in cash a year, or a few hundred thousand dollars a week… That’s worth hitting.”

So starts the inspiration for The Tithe, a Robin Hood-esque story of a group of bad guys looking to redistribute the wealth to things they consider really beneficial, according to Matt “so the bad guys are really kind of good guys, but the F.B.I. are still taking them down”

The Tithe will be a full color book and if they like the way it looks, then Matt says he and Rahsan will launch a similar coloring process for the next volume of Think Tank.

The Tithe was originally slated to be announced at SDCC, but Matt shared this and much more in this nearly two hour podcast interview available through comicosity.com and also wetalkpodcasts.com.

What things do they consider beneficial? This is why I can’t get excited about a book like this. That’s a key piece of the story I need to know before I put money on this.
