Welcome to a new Ten Tweets Thursday, this week with True Patriot creator Scott Chantler (@scottchantler)! You can check out Scott’s contribution to True Patriot by donating to the Indiegogo campaign here!
#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?
It was a Denny O’Neil/Neal Adams Batman story repackaged with a 45 record. Both the comic & the record are online: powerrecord.blogspot.ca/2007/12/batman…
#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?
For nostalgia’s sake, I have to say Batman. Second pick? Smiley Bone.
#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?
Either BONE’s “Great Cow Race” or FROM HELL. I think that pretty well sums up the diversity of my comics reading, as well.
#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?
I read almost entirely original graphic novels & trade paperback collections. Not much digital, unless it’s something that’s only online.
#5 What do you consider to be the most “obscure” title you read?
I just read HILDAFOLK by Luke Pearson. But most of my reading would be considered outside the mainstream by Marvel & DC standards.
#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?
Alan Moore, Will Eisner, Jeff Smith.
#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item?
I don’t collect anything. I’ve never really had the fan/collector mindset. If I had the money, though, I’d probably buy original art.
#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?
Creators, for sure. But rarely teams.
#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?
Will Eisner, Yves Chaland, Jeff Smith
#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?
Ramon Perez’s multi-Eisner-winning TALE OF SAND. ’60s-style film school surrealism, anchored by Ramon’s remarkably clear storytelling.

#11 You are involved in the True Patriot project on Indiegogo: who is your character and what makes them a superhero?
The Red Ensign, a WWII-era mystery man who battles Nazis in the name of the Dominion of Canada. It’s my first-ever superhero story!
