#TenTweetsThursday with @brianmjoines

Do you have a Holiday Hangover? Or worse yet, did you get a visit from Krampus? This week on Ten Tweets Thursday we have a special guest, writer Brian Joines (@brianmjoines), of IMAGINE Agents & Krampus! fame! Check out what Brian had to say about the infamous Ten Tweets!

#1 What is the first comic you remember reading?

I have vague recollections of Batman & Spidey books, but the first I remember perfectly is Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew #3.

#2 You can only pick two: all time favorite comic book characters?

Apologies to Aquaman, I say Ambush Bug & Howard the Duck. I liked them as a kid but loved the satire rereading them as an adult.

#3 What is your favorite series arc, limited or mini-series of all time?

Ellis/Immomen’s Nextwave run. It’s everything I love about comics made incarnate. League of Extraordinary Gentelemen’s a close 2nd.

#4 How do you read your comics? Print, digital, trades?

I run old school and read print, monthly, yet I read my two current faves, Chew and Sixth Gun, in trades. I go digital when needed.

#5 What do you consider to be the most “obscure” title you read?

I’d probably say Mysterious Strangers from Oni. It hearkens back to the old Doom Patrol/Jonny Quest vibe I love so damn much.

#6 You get to pick three: Favorite writers (current or of all time)?

Yikes…I’ll go with Jeff Parker, James Robinson, and Roger Stern. That’s a very Sophie’s Choice question for me. 🙂

#7 What is your favorite comic collector’s item? (art, toys, statues, signed anything, pez dispensers, that kind of stuff)

A framed print of a page from Nextwave featuring the team fighting monkeys dressed as Wolverine. Like I said, everything I love.

#8 As a reader do you tend to stick to a specific publisher, follow creative teams or follow characters?

I tend to follow creators, but the odd character warrants a look regardless of who’s working on them. Aquaman’s one of those for me.

#9 You get to pick three (again): Favorite artists?

Hmmmm…Stefano Caselli, Stuart Immomen, and Ed McGuinness. It my mind, it’s all about how big and expressive the characters are.

#10 What was the last comic you read before answering these questions?

Besides my own, in a flop-sweat-soaked panic? 🙂 Manifest Destiny from Image and Skybound. Had a lot of fun with it.

Special Holiday Bonus tweet!

#11 Who is your favourite member of the Secret Society of Santa Clauses?

Sinterklaas. The others try to maintain some decorum but Sinterklaas is just old and gnarled and crazed, with no filters. Fun to write.
