THE HONOR ROLL: April 6, 2016 Releases

Big conventions and big week for comics. It’s a great time to be alive and we have some great contributions from our members. Spoiler filled and tons of fun, let’s get to it!

BLACK PANTHER #1 – Pete Buser

This is some straight-up kick-ass Kirby from Coates and Stelfreeze.

About Me: Pete Buser is an enigma wrapped in a variant cover. Follow his mystery @petebuser

SUPERMAN #51 – Tom Barnett

I thought I would check out the new issue of Superman because I saw that Pete Tomasi was writing it. I’m glad I did. A heartfelt story with great interpersonal moments like this panel between Clark and Lana.

About Me: I’m Tom. Slightly addicted to comics, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek. I also try to spend some time behind the lens of my camera. Love Bronze Age comics and the Black Hole movie from Disney. Follow me @tphoto10

BLACK PANTHER #1 – James Kaplan

Ta-Nehisi Coates has never written a comic before but you’d never know it based on this strong debut from him, Brian Stelfreeze on art and Laura Martin on colors.  The Black Panther, King T’Challa, is a man in crisis and in this debut issue he’s dealing with the consequences of recent Marvel history and threats from without and within. It’s a gorgeous book as the art from Stelfreeze and Martin is dramatic, fun and compelling. This book feels like a smart, interesting, important read and I’m excited to see where it goes.

About Me: James is a lawyer by day, and an avid reader of comics whenever he can.  He loves his family, friends, and getting all of them into comics. He writes longer comics reviews at and is on Twitter @sinisterjhk.

MIDNIGHTER #11 – Scott Keys

That last page of Midnighter 11 is bittersweet. On the one hand, next issue will be EPIC, but it will also be the last issue. Hope we see more of Midnighter in the future!

About Me: Scott Keys is a father, Butler University grad, pharmacist, and full-time comic nerd. THE FIX #1 – Fractures

Confession: This isn’t the best panel of this comic. Hell, It’s not even the best panel on this page. But the perfectly timed reveal in the panel after this?

Pure gold.

And I don’t want to be the one to spoil that experience for you. Plus the rest of the comic is littered with laugh out loud panels. Many of which will probably make this week’s honour roll.

At least they should.

About Me: I’m @fractures, a proud member of #HorizonLabs and I love comics. And I fix broken bones, but that’s not important.

THE FIX #1 – Aaron Meyers

This creative team works so well together. Its comics magic.

About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics

Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week!
