We’re all still in recovery from the New Year and getting back in the groove of things. We had a great week of comics and some great picks for you check out! Spoilers abound.
ANT-MAN #1– Corey Fryia
Offered without comment — this spectacular panel from Ant-Man #1.
About Me: Corey Fryia is an independent comic book creator. He loves creator-owned comics and has a very manly beard. In his home town he is known as the “Sex Panther”. You can follow him (and his manly beard) on Twitter @coreyfryia
USAGI YOJIMBO: SENSO #6 – Pete Buser
Stan Sakai is a genius. There, I said it. Not that I’m the first or last to say that. It only took him three decades, but finally seeing our rabbit ronin as Usagi Gundam, fighting a Martian tri-pod, was worth the wait. It may just be the greatest thing I’ve seen in a comic book since I first started reading them thirty years ago.
About Me: Pete Buser is an enigma wrapped in a variant cover. Follow his mystery @petebuser
ANT-MAN #1– Ken Godberson III
Like what Ellis, Shalvey and Bellaire did with Moon Knight, Spencer, Rosanas and Boyd took a character I had very little knowledge and even less care for and made me invested. Yeah, I get that reason Scott Lang got an ongoing is the coming movie, but the creative team made a book teeming with humor and heart.
About Me: When he is not working at a library or on his Master’s Degree, Ken Godberson III is usually writing comics, prose and screenplays. He tends to be an expert on absolutely nothing except on why
THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL-GIRL #1 – Kulbir Mann
Every now and again you need a comic like this. One that doesn’t itself too seriously and has a target audience younger than you. It has a heartfelt tone and a loving central character. Most of all it has a sense of humour all of its own. Its quaint, its pretty and its so hilarious, especially as it features Doreen Green with a conspicuously awesome butt!
About Me: I Spend the day as a surgeon operating on people, spend the night as a blogger operating on comics! Check out my blog www.houseofflyingscalpels.com or follow me @kooliebear
THE PUNISHER #14– Aaron Meyers
Pure Badassery.
About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics
Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week, stay tuned!
