Spooky scary and wonderful week for comics! We have great spoiler filled picks for you to check out so let’s get to it! BOO!
KAMANDI CHALLENGE #10 – Doug Zawisza
This raises the bar of absurdity just a bit more, giving readers Greg Pak-written, Shane Davis-drawn sharks with guns. Sharks. With. Guns. How do they hold those guns? With their arms, naturally! WHAT?!? Yeah. Exactly. Kamandi Challenge continues to be one of the most entertainingly absurd comics on the shelves, with new ideas or refreshed weirdness popping up every single issue. This is just one of the reasons we all love comics.
About Me: I’m Doug. Father of three, husband of one, fan of all things good. I’m a regular contributor here on Comicosity, an adjunct staff member of the Waiting for Doom podcast, and author of the Hawkman Companion from TwoMorrows. Twitter: @DZawisza
DEADLY CLASS #31 – Pete Buser
Rick Remender and Wes Craig bring action and heart to every issue of Deadly Class. Here we get some of that heart with two long missing characters. I’m sure it’s gonna work out just fine.
About Me: Pete Buser is an enigma wrapped in a variant cover. Follow his mystery @petebuser
SILVER SURFER #14 – James Kaplan
I thought I’d be ready for this book to end but I wasn’t. I seriously by the time this issue was over, and you will too. The Slott/Allred run on Silver Surfer is that great of a comic. It’s got love and humor and joy and sadness and thoughtful exploration of life, along with some of the most stunningly gorgeous bright pop-art you’ll ever see, courtesy of Mike and Laura Allred. I can recommend this book highly enough. I love it.
About Me: James is a lawyer by day, and an avid reader of comics whenever he can. He loves his family, friends, and getting all of them into comics. He writes longer comics reviews at panelpatter.com and is on Twitter @sinisterjhk.
HACK/SLASH RESURRECTION #1 – Kat!
Cassie Hack returns to the pages of Image comics with all the sass we love from the character!
About Me: I’m Kat! A YouTuber on Comic Uno and Comic Frontline, a podcaster on the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast and upcoming Titans Podcast, comic book editor on The Marvel Report, comic book critic on Newsarama, and writer/creator for comic book series Like Father, Like Daughter and They Call Her…The Dancer. DETECTIVE COMICS #967 – Scott Keys
This is bringing us closer to the (hopefully inevitable) return of Conner Kent aka Superboy! It’s probably my love of the 90s DC Comics, but this is always one of my favorite books to read!
About Me: Scott Keys is a father, Butler University grad, pharmacist, and full-time comic nerd. You can follow his adventures around the spinner-rack and his Incoherent Comic Book Ramblings on: Twitter
SILVER SURFER #14 – Aaron Meyers
What a wonderful story. What a wonderful run. Wonderful comic.
About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics
Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week!
