The Honor Roll: Oni Press Eisner Edition: July 9, 2012

Welcome to a special edition of the Honor Roll, featuring the Eisner-nominated titles from Oni Press. Oni Press was kind enough to let me read the following books which are all flat-out-amazing. Each creator’s name links to an interview conducted last week!

The Sixth Gun by Cullen Bunn & Bill Crabtree: Cullen Bunn is nominated for Best Writer and Bill Crabtree for Best Colorist for this amazing title that if you haven’t read yet, START. This is a mystical western with dynamic characters, fantastic plots, and the six most interesting weapons in all of comics. This comic is of the highest quality and if you like a good adventure book, start reading this one…you won’t be sorry.

One Soul by Ray Fawkes: Ray Fawkes is up for best new graphic novel for One Soul, one of the most interesting concepts to ever hit comics. This moving, dynamic, intense and gripping story will suck you in and never let go. This is truly a work of art in the comics medium and shows what comics that aren’t about capes are capable of. One Soul is a unique form of storytelling that you will not find anywhere else.

Ivy by Sarah Oleksyk: Sarah Oleksyk’s Ivy is going head to head with One Soul in the best new graphic novel category as well as being nominated in Best Writer/Artist. Ivy is the detailed story of a high school student named Ivy, one of the most spirited and complex teens in all of literature. Oleksyk’s storytelling is impeccable in this page turner that you will not be able to put down. Ivy is one of the greatest characters of 2011 and this original graphic novel is all at once hilarious, soul crushing, heartwarming and everything in between.
