Exploding from the pages of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY! Peter Quill battles the Badoon, saves an orphanage and still finds time to flirt with the X-Men’s Kitty Pryde – all in a day’s work for the legendary Star-Lord! But when Peter is captured by a bounty hunter with a strange connection to his past, can the two make amends before he’s fed to a giant alien? A Badoon death sentence isn’t exactly Peter’s idea of a good time – luckily, he’s got an ace up his sleeve. But Star-Lord soon encounters the all-powerful Titan responsible for so much mayhem in his life: Thanos! It’s the battle to end all battles, but can Star-Lord possibly get out alive?! If he does, the vicious Mister Knife and the ancient cosmic artifact known as the Black Vortex are waiting. Collecting LEGENDARY STAR-LORD #1-5.
WHY TO WATCH FOR IT: Writer Sam Humpries makes a strong case for the existence of a satellite Guardians of the Galaxy title that may not need to exist. Nevertheless, it’s a ton of fun and Kitty Pride/Peter Quill shippers need to jump in here.
John Lincoln didn’t understand why vengeful ghosts possessed him while he slept-until he learned that his father was also a Dream Thief! To give Dad’s spirit rest, he’ll need to orchestrate a prison break, avoid a statewide manhunt, and try not to get possessed himself! Collects issues #1-#4 of the miniseries.
“Crisp, mysterious, compelling and gorgeously drawn. Don’t miss this book.” -Kurt Busiek
WHY TO WATCH FOR IT: Jai Nitz is one of the most inventive and creative writers I’ve ever read and he only pushes the envelope with this series. Definitely worth checking out.
In 2001, Hellboy quit the BPRD, leaving Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman, and a bizarre roster of special agents to defend the world from the growing menace of the frog army. While Abe dives deeper into his origins, Liz and the BPRD fight against two of their greatest villains yet with their newest recruit, Daimio! Collects B.P.R.D.: The Dead, B.P.R.D.: The Black Flame, and B.P.R.D.: War on Frogs.
WHY TO WATCH FOR IT: I’ve said this before, but you can’t go wrong with anyone inspired to delve unto the Mike Mignola-verse. Abe Sapien is the most cogent version of this series and a wonderful perspective to indulge in.
An Illuminati celebrity assassin, adorably twisted ritual sacrifices, doomed lovotic space affairs, war toads, G.U.N.T.S., luchador gorillas, and urban languawitches await in this bizarrely wonderful sci-fi-fantasy fueled comic anthology.
Imaginary Drugs is a creator driven exploration of life, love, death, and raygun-toting, multiverse adventure. Skirting the fears and fringes and subverting the hopes and expectations of the modern imagination, Imaginary Drugs tackles the possible future origins of human life, our increasingly dependent relationship with technology, and the ass-kicking absurdity of beating a nest of blood-suckers into submission with a cosmically powered baseball bat.
WHY TO WATCH FOR IT: Kickstarter turned awesome; Get in on this anthology book with so much great talent and experience featured that you have no choice but to pay attention.
